This is a picture of the
Golden Temple in Amritsar. I have not taken a group
of women to this part of India but my personal journey
was as bright as this temple!
Going Places Together, tours for women, has been travelling to exciting
destinations since 1994. Our first journey was to India.
We returned to India in 1996, more memories and more new travelling
friends.
In 1997 we travelled to Kenya. We were on safari for 21 days to
Kenya's great wildlife reserves.
In February 1998 we travelled
Around Our World, west all the way stopping in Mexico,
Singapore, India, England and Switzerland. It was a trip
of a lifetime!
October 1998, a wonderful group of Guiders and friends of
Guiding headed for the Guiding Houses of the UK. We travelled through, England,
Wales, Ireland and Scotland.
In November 1999 it was back to India. This time we travelled
the southern route, from Bombay (Mumbai) to the most southern
tip. We floated on the back water of Kerala aboard spice boats converted to hotels. A little
bit of Heaven! Oh to be there now!
In 2000 it was back to Mexico. A small group of women but oh
we had so many laughs.
In 2002 we travelled to China to visit the Great Wall, sail
down the Yangtze, with a stop to view the Terra-Cotta Warriors
and shopped in Hong Kong.
We went back to India in 2002 and 2003. Both trips we toured
the Golden Triangle. After the trip to India in
2002 we travelled to Nepal for a "lets take a look visit".
In 2003 we returned to Nepal. We flew around
Mount Everest, did white water rafting on the Trisuli River and
went on safari, morning and evening, on the back of an elephant
in Chitwan National Park. Oh so beautiful!
In 2004 I took a holiday from group travel but returned to India
to take a look at the North. I travelled with my sons and my
husband. A very different trip being the only woman. We had an
amazing journey from Delhi to Amritsar home of the Golden Temple,
to Chandigarth and then by toy train to the hill station of Shimla.
Travelling with womens groups could not stop and in 2005 we
were off to Ireland for one week of walking the Kerry Trail and
one week of touring by bus. Everything in Ireland is not green.
Ireland is full of colour, history and wonderful people.
November 2005 took us back in Kenya on Safari. This tour included an amazing
extension to Tanzania. You just can't return to Africa too often.
In 2006 we returned to India to tour the Golden Triangle. Then
a small group celebrated the festival of the sun (Inti Raimi) in
Peru.
September 2006 found me travelling in Egypt looking for a new destination
for my travellers. You will find Egypt on the 2008 list of destinations.
April 2007 and I am once again enjoyed the discovery part of travel.
I joined an Agents Educational and travelled to South Africa to see first
hand what I had already decided would be one of the 2008 destinations.
My Educational was wonderful and South Africa is what they say...It
has something for everyone! I can hardly wait to return.
June 2007 and Going Places Together went back in China and
had a wonderful time as they travel from Beijing to Hong Kong.
Oct./Nov. 2007 found us riding Elephants, cruising back waters,
enjoying a massage and experiencing the yesterdays and todays of
Thailand and Vietnam. A first vist for these two countries but
certainly not our last!
April 2008 will find us climbing down in to the tombs of the pharohs
and cruising the Nile. Wilbur Smith would be proud of us! Egypt here we
come! September will take us to the land of the elephant, South
Africa! We never get too much elephant! They are big here and
love to wander across the path of your safari vehicle to make
sure you know they are there! So exciting and only a small part of
what South Africa has to offer.
Our SHARE IT page is up and running, you can link to it from
the postcard. If you are not signed up to receive a postcard
