Friday January 31 Toronto to Faro Portugal    
      
Meet your escort at Toronto Pearson Airport for your flight to Portugal. (note: International Air is not included, suggestions and quote for group travel out of Toronto will be offered).

Day 1 Saturday February 1, Faro to Alvor     
For those travelling with the group, on arrival in Faro, Portugal you will be met and transferred to Alvor, your home away from home. Single travellers must arrange their own transfer from Faro to Alvor.

Day 2  Sunday February 2, Alvor Day of Leisure 
Join your tour co-ordinator for the first of many amazing days of colourful Portugal. You will take a slow walk from your accommodation along the sea and through the old village. Alvor your home in Portugal for this adventure, is a small fishing village that has grown as a tourist destination, as has most of the Algarve. The old village of Alvor is still there but polished up with boardwalks etc. If you are up early enough you will see the fishermen cleaning their catch in the harbour. Life is moving slowly in Alvor at this time of year. As it is Sunday take the opportunity to join the locals for morning service.

Day 3   Monday February 3, Alvor Day of Leisure

Day 4 Tuesday February 4, Luz / Cape St. Vincent / Fortalez de Sagres (private bus)
Heading west your first stop is in Luz. A beautiful fishing village Luz offers new vistas for your paints and brushes. Take time to wander the village, visit the roman ruins or enjoy a Galao (Portuguese coffee) in one of the seaside cafes.  Continue your journey to Cape St. Vincent, the most westerly point in Portugal. A short stop here for some photo ops. Your next stop is at the Fortalez de Sagres. 
The fortress was originally built in the 16th century and rebuilt in the 17th and 18th centuries. The old cannons on the site were used to protect the beaches of Tonel and Mareta. The 'Church of Our Lady of Favour' is perhaps the only remaining original building.
The cliffs are high and the wind can really gust so be careful if you decide to wander around the edge of the promontary. Mind you, the danger doesn't seem to phase the local fishermen who perch at strategic locations on the rocky ledges with long, long lines down to the crashing Atlantic waves below.
On your return trip to Alvor you will have an opportunity to do some shopping. Several Portuguese pottery shops are waiting for your visit.

Day 5 Wednesday February 5, Alvor / Day of Leisure

Day 6 Thursday February 6, A two and a half hour COASTAL CRUISE, beginning in Alvor harbour
This is the most comfortable and relaxing way to see the magnificent Algarve coastline. Your solar powered cruiser will explore some of the coastline between Lagos, Portimao and beyond. You will visit isolated, quiet secluded coves for opportunities to enjoy the local wildlife and the spectacular cathedral-like rock formations along the rugged cliffs.

Day 7 Friday February 7, Full Day trip to Seville, Spain
Early morning (pick up 05:40 AM Return to Alvor at 7:45 PM)
Visit the historic city of Seville, capital of the Andalusian Region, dazzled by the greatness of it monuments. There will be free time to visit the largest Gothic cathedral in the world, the Royal Alcazar Palace, and the magnificent Maria Luisa Park and the great Plaza de Espana. Time to shop in the city or in the legendary district of Judiaria de Santa Cruz. When leaving Seville on your return journey to Alvor you will dive by the pavilions of the 1st Ibero-American exhibition of 1929.

Day 8 Saturday, February 8, Day of leisure    
A chance to walk the beach, relax with a book.  Everyone needs a change of pace.

Day 9 Sunday February 9, Silves River Day Cruise
(5 hours)
 A When the tide is high you will sail up the River Arade, through the beautiful countryside beyond Portimao to the historical castle town of Silves. On your eco-friendly solar powered boat you will experience low engine noise and zero pollution. You can enjoy nature along the banks of the river Arade. Storks, Turtles and or Flamingos can be experienced on this journey. On arrival in Silves you disembark with time to explore the town (approx. 2 hours). There is plenty of time to visit the castle, cathedral and meander through the old world narrow streets, stepping back in time.

Day 11 Tuesday, February 11, Day trip to Lisbon  
While you are in Portugal you shouldn't miss the opportunity to visit Portugals capital city. You will be picked up not far from your accommodation for your bus trip to Lisbon. Your tour of Lisbon begins in Belem, where you will find famous Lisbon landmarks such as the Jeronimos Monastery with its Manueline architecture and the Padrao dos Descobrimentos (monmument to the Discoveries), among others. Afterwards, you will tour the highlights, from the Belem Tower and the riverside area to the city centre. In the city centre you can visit the typical Alfama neighbourhood, the Castle of Sao Jorge, and explore the charms of Lisbon extensively by food. You will return to the Algarve via the Vasco da Gama bridge spannig the Tagas River and considered the longest in Europe. A long day but certainly interesting. Return to Alvor for a restful sleep.

Day 13 Thursday February 13, FAREWELL DINNER - ALVOR
Your last day in Alvor as tomorrow you will head to Faro for time to experience the capital of the Algarve. Join your group (restaurant location and time to be announced) for a farewell dinner.

Day 14 Friday February 14, Faro capital of the Algarve Join your group for your transfer to Faro by private bus. (time of departure will be announced). On arrival check in to your accommodation for the last two nights in Portugal. Your hotel the Hotel Faro & Beach Club is located close to the city centre and the Faro marina. The hotel offers a shuttle to both locations giving you your first step to the history of the Algarve's capital. 
Use of Sauna and Turkish Bath is free at Hotel Faro.

Day 15 Saturday February 15, Faro at leisure
