Option # 2          Follow the St Lawrence         June 23-28, 2019    (6 Days)              minimum 25 participants

Our adventures begin in Morrisburg and a tour of Upper Canada Village, a historic village providing a glimpse into life in the 1860’s.  An overnight in Quebec City before we depart for Montmorency Falls and the Charlevoix Train excursion to Malbaie, a unique excursion along the St. Lawrence River.   Passing rock cliffs, marshlands and a panoramic view of the St. Lawrence for most of the journey.  Enjoy the Biosphere Reserve, an incredible region with some of the most rugged and highest peaks, east of the Rockies.  Today, we also tour Lac a Menaud for a cruise on the lake with a naturalist.  Our final evening is in Montreal with a stop at Daniel Sequin Gardens enroute.

We begin our journey and tale of 2 capital cities -Ottawa, Canada’ current capital and Kingston, the former capital of the New Province of Canada.  As we travel along the Loyalist Parkway through Prince Edward County and take the Glenora ferry across a portion of the Bay of Quinte, we enjoy a scenic drive to Kingston.  Tonight, we set sail on a dinner cruise enjoying onboard entertainment and a beautiful sunset.  After a morning city tour of Kingston, we are off to Ottawa for 2 nights and upon arrival visit the Canadian Museum of History.  As Canada’s most visited museum, you will discover the people and objects that have shaped our history.  A guided tour of Ottawa is also included and a cruise on the historic Rideau Canal.

We begin our Circle of Georgian Bay by travelling through the Bruce Peninsula to Tobermory to board the Chi Cheemaun for our 2 hour cruise across the narrows of Georgian Bay and Lake Huron.   Overnight 2 nights on Manitoulin Island.  In-depth guided tour of Manitoulin Island, with a special cruise aboard the Grand Heron.  Crossing the historic land bridge, we leave Manitoulin Island through the La Cloche Mountains before arriving at the Big Nickel and Science North in Sudbury. Stop in French River, the first designated Canadian Heritage River.  In Midland visit Huronia Museum and enjoy a performance at King’s Wharf Theatre, nestled within Discovery Harbor, the historic 19thcentury British naval and military base.

We begin our Northward journey with a lunch cruise on Lake Couchiching before continuing on to the Gateway of the North, North Bay.  Enjoy a visit to the Canadian Forces Museum of Aerospace and Defense before we arrive in Cochrane and the Tim Horton’s Museum.  Time at the Polar Bear Habitat is included, the only human care facility in the world dedicated solely to polar bears.  As well visit Heritage Village, and step back into time to the early 1900’s with a General Store, Butcher Shop, Doctor’s office and more. Returning back south, continue to Sudbury and Science North and Dynamic Earth for an afternoon to explorer two floors of galleries, HD digital theatre and underground tour.

We travel the Bruce Peninsula and once we reach Tobermory, check in for our early evening ferry to Manitoulin Island aboard the Chi Cheemaun.   We spend the night in Little Current and enjoy a guided tour of the Island before continuing to Sault Ste Marie for 2 nights.  A highlight will be an all-day train excursion on the Algoma Central Train.  Experience the thrill of crossing a trestle bridge and then descending 500 feet to the floor of the famous canyon.  Walk along the Agawa River to Bridal Veil Falls or climb the stairs to the observation level for an awesome view of the Canyon.  Our 2ndday in Sault Ste Marie has us visiting such sites as the Canadian Bush plane Heritage Centre before making our way to Sudbury and the spectacular scenery of the north shore.  A stop is made in French River, Canada’s First Heritage River as we make our way back to Toronto.
